RUGBY ORCHESTERAL WORKSHOP

Our senior instrumentalists spent this morning in a workshop with music staff from Rugby School.

Our senior instrumentalists spent this morning in a workshop with music staff from Rugby School. Rugby's Director of Music, Richard Tanner, has a long connection with CCCS having been Organ Scholar at Exeter College (and for three years, as an undergraduate, trained the Exeter choristers which CCCS used to supply to the chapel choir there).

Mr Tanner brought with him pianist, Rebecca Taylor, Rugby's new Deputy Director of Music, who is also an accompanist at the Royal Academy of Music. It was wonderful to do some ensemble playing under their direction and tackle an arrangement of The Entertainer together. Mr Tanner spoke about music at senior schools, talked about practice techniques, and gave the boys a vivid picture of what life is like as a Rugby School music scholar. A brilliant morning in unbelievably beautiful weather!
