Celebrating National Poetry Day

National Poetry Day was a joyful celebration across the school today, with children getting involved in sharing and performing their favourite poems.

Form 1 had lots of fun as they enthusiastically recited verses with actions and songs. Their favourites included The Food Train by Julia Donaldson and a very funny – and fearsome – book of dinosaur poems by John Foster and Korky Paul, which had everyone giggling and roaring in equal measure!

Meanwhile, the Nursery children also embraced the day, delighting in beautifully illustrated books of classic poems. They especially enjoyed sharing two timeless favourites: T.S. Eliot's Skimbleshanks: The Railway Cat and Edward Lear's much-loved The Owl and the Pussycat.

It was wonderful to see a love of language, rhythm, and rhyme being celebrated throughout the school.
