Table Tennis Enrichment

Since the introduction of our first table tennis table, the sport has taken off at CCCS in a remarkable way. We now have four tables in constant use before school, during break times and lunchtimes, and after school. Many boys have even joined clubs outside school and invested in high-quality equipment to develop their skills further.

In response to this enthusiasm, we added table tennis to our enrichment programme and welcomed Tony West, a coach at Kidlington Table Tennis Club and former coach to Oxford University. Under his expert guidance, our pupils now have access to top‐flight coaching, and the progress they have made has been exceptional.

For the first time ever, CCCS will be sending four boys from Forms 7 and 8 to compete in the national IAPS Table Tennis Championships at Edge Grove School at the end of April. They will have the opportunity to test themselves against some of the best young players in the country, and we look forward to hearing about their achievements.

Perhaps the greatest success of this initiative is the sheer level of participation it has generated. Table tennis has quickly become a firm favourite during break and lunchtimes, and we are confident that its popularity will continue to grow in the coming years.

As this term’s enrichment programme draws to a close, we look back with great pride at the wide range of wonderful activities that have been available to our pupils. New additions such as DT Club, Table Tennis Club, Silent Movie‐Making, Woodland Art, and Fencing have been superb enhancements. Each activity has contributed to the programme’s core aim: enriching pupils’ lives by offering opportunities and developing skills beyond the standard curriculum.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all the teachers involved for their hard work, creativity, and commitment in putting together such an outstanding array of options for our pupils.

Next term, the enrichment programme will return with even more new activities, certain to spark the enthusiasm of our boys once again.
