Nursery’s Sound of the Week

Posted on 22nd Jan, 2021

The wet weather did not stop play in the Nursery this week. With boots, hats and coats we ventured to the Woodland School for a 'Soup and Sausage Sizzle'.  We read the story of Stick Man and Searched for our own Stick men, who were hiding on the Meadow whilst our Sausages cooked.

Our sound of the week for the past few days has been  “S” and so the decision was taken to launch an expedition to the Woodland School to cook Sizzling Sausages over a gas camp fire. The appointed day for the feast dawned but unfortunately, the skies were grey. I am pleased to say that the Nursery was not put off and the expedition went ahead despite concerns that the Sausages might be rather more Soggy than Sizzling! Fortunately, by the time the excited diners had arrived at the wood, the rain had stopped. The camp stove was set up, the bug hotel was temporarily transformed into a table and the Sausage Sizzling began.

I asked one of the pupils how many Sausages he had eaten. His face lit up – “Ninety Ten!” he responded, rubbing his stomach happily. Now that’s what I call mass catering! Thank goodness that Sausage Sizzling, and even more importantly, Sausage Scoffing hasn’t fallen victim to the pandemic!  Mr Murray.
