Cricket at CCCS - Trinity 2021

Posted on 11th Jun, 2021

Despite the pandemic preventing us from playing any serious Cricket last season, we have had a very pleasing start to the season this term with some good individual, and team, performances against local schools.

In the very first fixtures of the season, we played: four highly competitive and enjoyable matches, three extremely close and exciting matches, then a further four matches, which were our most competitive out of our early season fixtures - we won one match by an astounding 96 runs!  We have many more matches to look forward to this term before we focus on athletics, and Sports Day on 26th June.

We have played some excellent Cricket so far this term. Jeremy has taken 9 wickets in the 7 overs he has bowled. Thomas took 6 wickets for 0 runs, he has scored 30 not out, 36 not out and he recently scored his maiden half century. Both of these boys were selected for the Oxfordshire Prep Schools Team, playing in the Wynyard Gibb Cup against Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Hampshire.  We have seen immense progress; our boys are bowling with genuine pace and are gaining good control with their line and length. We also have some exciting leg spinners developing - a difficult skill to master!

The most exciting part of cricket at CCCS however, is seeing how our younger boys are improving. This stands us in good stead for the future - which is looking very bright indeed!
