CCCS Real Tennis Champions

Congratulations to Ambrose Garson and Carl-Ludwig Riehl who were crowned U13s champions in the National Schools Real Tennis Doubles Champions 2018 in a tournament last weekend.
The Form 7 boys beat the Dragon 5-3 in the final at The Oratory to become the national schools doubles victors. Ambrose, 12, said: “Real Tennis is one of the hardest racquet sports. The technique is very different to tennis. You don’t put topspin on the ball and the ball skids rather than bounces.” Of the final, he added: “We got very nervous and stressed when they won the first game but then we caught up to 3-1. Then they got another game but we got the last two.”
Mr Murray was delighted about the boys’ victory at the Sport of Kings, so called because it was much loved by kings, especially the School’s founder, Henry VIII. “I told the governors at my interview that I wanted to introduce Real Tennis to the School, he said. “I never believed then that we would be National Champions four years later.” CJ
