OBA Cricket Match & Picnic Lunch: Saturday, 7th July 2018 - Merton Field, Christ Church, Oxford

The greatly enjoyable event, which is as much a social as a sporting occasion, will be held on Christ Church's Merton Field and start at 10.30am. As always, family members are warmly invited to join us as spectators. Parking for the day will be available from 10am to 9pm on Christ Church's Broad Walk (access from St Aldates).

To book a place, please complete the relevant registration form and return it to the School’s Development & Alumni Office either by email or by post by Thursday, 28th June 2018.

The agenda for the day is as follows:

10.00am           Parking on Broad Walk, Christ Church Opens

10.30am   First Cricket Session Commences

12.30pm   'Bring your Own' Picnic Style Lunch (additional refreshments and drinks can be purchased on the day).

1.00pm  

Presentation to Mr Gordon Hughes on his retirement as Chairman of CCCSOBA & Presentation to Dr Stephen Darlington on his retirement as Director of Christ Church Cathedral Choir

1.30pm   Second Cricket Session Commences

3.30pm   Drinks & Informal OBA Meeting – Official Handover of the OBA Chairmanship

4.00pm   Wrap up & Departures*


* All Old Boys are warmly invited to attend the Farewell Evensong for Stephen Darlington in Christ Church Cathedral commencing at 6pm.  All OB Cathedral Choristers (1985+ Leavers) are warmly invited to take part in the Rehearsal at 4.30pm and sing the Farewell Evensong for Dr Darlington with the Cathedral Choir followed by a BBQ at 7pm (please see below for further details).


Farewell Evensong for Stephen Darlington: Saturday, 7th July 2018 - Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford & BBQ: Christ Church, Oxford

This year's Old Boys' Cricket Match & Picnic Lunch is indeed rather special, as it coincides with the celebratory events marking our Cathedral Choir's Director, Dr Stephen Darlington's, retirement after 33 years of service. All Old Boys are thus warmly invited to attend the Farewell Evensong for Stephen Darlington held at 6pm in Christ Church Cathedral. Additionally, all former Cathedral Choristers, who are 1985+ Leavers, are warmly invited to sing the Farewell Evensong for Stephen Darlington with the Cathedral Choir and join Dr Darlington at the Barbecue afterwards. Please note that this event is organised directly by Christ Church. 4.30pm     Rehearsal in Christ Church Cathedral**
6pm             Farewell Evensong for Stephen Darlington: Music includes Chorale (Saxton), Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis (St Paul's Service) (Howells), and The Spirit of the Lord (Elgar).

7pm   BBQ, Christ Church** (tickets: £20, and there will be a bar to purchase drinks)

9pm   Wrap up & Departures

Oxford Orpheus Concert (in support of the School's Chorister Community Outreach Programme): Saturday, 2nd February 2019 - Oxford Town Hall

The concert for the 2018/19 Season, which will feature the widely admired English operatic baritone and Oxford Orpheus’ Patron, Sir Thomas Allen, will be held on Saturday, 2nd February 2019 in Oxford Town Hall.

-    Vaughan Williams: Five Mystical Songs
-    Fauré: Requiem
