CCCS has received a glowing report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in which they were awarded the highest grade - Excellent – for both Academic Achievement and Personal Development.

The Inspectors were impressed with the School’s “calm, united and purposeful atmosphere” and the fact that “all pupils display eloquence and politeness, and a keen desire to learn”.  They were particularly struck by the centrality of music in the life of the School, noting that “pupils are inspired to achieve excellence through the uplifting music which permeates and enriches every aspect of life for the whole community.”

Ivan Chetverikov, in Year 3, scored a notable success by winning the Oxfordshire County U-9 Trials held at Cumnor School this month. In a field of 52 keen chess players, Ivan won all six games to finish in clear first place.

To top off this outstanding achievement, Ivan then went on to compete in the U-11 Trials against boys and girls two years older than him, ending up on 5/6 and only losing to the eventual winner. Ivan is the captain of the school's U-9 team, which is currently battling in the league to try and regain the county championship which Christ Church won in 2015.

- Choir Tour Report by Harry, Form 8

I had no idea what to expect when we met up at Gatwick, yet I was very excited. When we arrived in Italy we went straight to the convent where we were staying. The convent was really nice with great dorms and rooms. It also had a volleyball court; we spent a lot of our free time there having tremendous fun.

The concerts were really amazing and were all a great experience. We sang in the Basilica in Imperia which was an amazing big building to sing in with great acoustics.

The first week of the summer holiday was marked by a highly successful and enjoyable French trip, involving 38 boys and four teachers. Having already commemorated at School the centenary of the first day of the Battle of the Somme on 1st July, with a moving service in the Cathedral and a fascinating morning of history, poetry, and art relating to the battle, we set off to Picardy in the north-eastern corner of France to learn more about the people and places at the heart of this tragic episode in British military history.

The Cathedral Choristers spent the Easter holidays on tour in North America, visiting Alexandria, Washington, Davidson, Chicago, Minneapolis and Toronto.

They had one day to recover from a busy round of services on Easter Sunday, before finding themselves at Heathrow early on Tuesday morning and setting off on an Airbus A380 (which caused almost more excitement than the transatlantic trip itself).

Premier League Football Course

Posted by admin on November 13, 2015

Every morning around 25 boys spilled out onto Merton Field wearing their personalised Adidas strips – all Number Tens – ready to hone their skills with former Premier League England International and director of PRODAYS football academy, Andrew Johnson. At lunchtime the boys filed into Christ Church Great Dining Hall, the inspiration for Hogwarts, and tucked into a delicious two-course meal (the Rocky Road Pudding was particularly popular).
