Owing to the nature of their singing commitments, Cathedral Choristers and Probationers all become boarders. The chorister boarding house is sited on the first and second floors of the main school building, No. 3 Brewer Street, where its features include a large common room, sick bay, washrooms, and dormitories named after famous Christ Church figures (Taverner, Harwood, Ley and Armstrong).
The boarding house was built in the nineteenth century under the initiative of Dean Liddell (whose daughter, Alice, was immortalised by Lewis Carroll), when the choristers' schooling could no longer be accommodated within Christ Church itself. Today's boarders enjoy access to the school facilities 'after hours', including the IT room, Reference Library and Hall, not to mention a large number of pianos. In good weather, evening visits are often made to Christ Church Meadow. Games activities range from the traditional - table football, pool and table tennis - to an Xbox and the ever-popular skate-boarding and basketball in the yard.
The boarders are cared for by a team comprised of the resident Housemaster, two Housetutors and two Matrons.
