Boys (and younger sisters in
the Nursery) join from the age of 2 years and 9 months, usually for
three mornings per week. As they develop, this is increased to a maximum
of five mornings and five afternoons, prior to transferring into Reception.
The Nursery has experienced staff and is run along Montessori
lines with plenty of skill development and a varied programme for
each individual. |
| Positive attitudes are encouraged from the
start so that children happily and confidently take part in all manner
of activities, including the beginning of work with letters and numbers.
There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor play, including the
exclusive use of a walled Tudor garden immediately outside the Nursery
itself. Those of eligible age are able to take advantage of a subsidy
through the Oxfordshire Early Years Partnership, of which the school
is a member. |

On arrival in the Reception class, the pattern
of full-time schooling is established with daily Literacy and Numeracy
sessions, assemblies, humanities and arts, a little homework and regular
physical activity in a range of indoor and outdoor play areas. With the help
of experienced classroom practitioners, pupils develop important skills
in this and the following two years, meeting many of the specialist
facilities and teachers that they will encounter in the Main School.

| Daily contact with staff and termly reports
help to ensure that important feedback between home and school takes
place. An after school club in available. |
