Forms 1 and 2 ‘Footsteps Road Safety Programme’
As many of you will know, this is an excellent programme devised by Oxfordshire County Council to promote road safety awareness in young children. We have used it for at least part of each year with Forms 1 and 2 for a long time and believe it to be an important part of our PHSE programme.

The programme’s main aim is to encourage the children to take an active part in identifying potential hazards. The success of the programme depends on the good will and help of you the parents, as children are taught in pairs with an adult.

Can you help? It might involve about an hour a week (depending on the number of volunteers) and we can be reasonably flexible about when that hour is, to fit in with your commitments. If you would like to know more or would like to help, please contact either Mrs Allen, Miss Harper or Mrs Fraemohs (Form 2 parent). [Any helpers will have to be CRB checked]. PA

The term sports photos will be taken on Tuesday, 22nd March at 1400

Thanks!
Mr Cotterill would like to thank all his friends and colleagues for their continued support and good wishes at school. He would also like to thank all the parents and pupils of CCCS for their messages of sympathy and looks forward to being back into school next week, even if only single handed!
Mr Cotterill intends to run his Easter Art Course as normal the first week of the holidays.

First XI v Dragon
With a fully fit squad and a good record against the Dragon, CCCS started the game brightly with some good passing from the forwards. Unable to break the deadlock CCCS became frustrated and the Dragon took the lead against the run of play owing to some slack defensive work. Dragon led at the break 1-0.
With the wind and the slope against them CCCS had an amazing period of play at the beginning of the second half with ten shots on goal and a penalty miss - it looked as if it was going to be ‘one of those games’. However, CCCS didn’t give up hope and P.T slotted home from close range. Pushing for the second goal the Dragon looked dangerous on the break but were kept out by good defending from R.M and S.McD.
The game ended 1-1 - CCCS felt they should have won the game. Man of the Match was P.T.. DJH

Oxfordshire Science Festival

The Oxfordshire Science runs from 22 January to February 6th. There are many exciting family events being organised throughout the county and details can be found at www.oxtrust.org.uk/festival or tel:01865 811105

In particular I would like to draw your attention to "Eat your Way to a Healthy Heart" on Thursday 3rd February 6-9pm at the Martin Wood lecture theatre. The speakers are Professor Jeya Henry - who is behind much of the famed "GI" work that is in the currently press and being pursued by all the major supermarkets, and Professor Rory Collins - whose research centred around the cholesterol-lowering drugs, statins, that have also been in the news in recent months. More information can be requested by contacting diagnox@diagnox.co.uk or 01865 811132. Free glucose tests and blood pressure measurements will be available to the public at the start of the evening for those who wish to find out about themselves!
