Week ending Friday, 4th February 2005

You should have already received a letter from the Headmaster. Please send the IT form back in the brown envelope and the INSPECTION form back in the self addressed enveloped, sealed, also in the brown envelope. We need these by the end of half term at the latest so that we can forward them on to the Lead Inspector.

School Information
I quite often get calls asking for dates and so forth and it occurred to me that possibly not everyone realises that the Newsletter, the current term calendar, the yearly dates and other odds and ends are all posted on the school website, www.cccs.org.uk, which can be printed off, under ‘Newsletters’. Fencing Club, Trinity Term 2005
I have spoken to Herman du Preez, who is a highly qualified local instructor, and he would be able to come here on TUESDAY evenings (1800-1900 summer terms and 1700-1800 in the winter).
We need a minimum of six boys for the club to be viable, so if anyone is interested would they please return the form below to the School Office.
The cost will be £55 per term (3 ten week terms per year) which includes for the use of the kit, plus snack. PW

St Hugh's Colts A 3 CCCS 1 (Will Smith)
This was a very disappointing result after our success against Pinewood last week. Everyone tried very hard but lapses in concentration in terms of position on the field cost us dearly. Their first goal came as a result of some Arsenal type marking in the eighteen yard box and the second was similar. We came back strongly after half time but did not keep our shape and as a result never had an effective control of midfield-it looked as though we had four defenders and six attackers. PW

Colts B v St Hugh’s Lost

We did not start with the same conviction as last week and despite some early forays into the opposition half were soon a few goals to the worse. The goal difference did not improve and it was some time before we found out if their man between the up-rights was of any ability. Unfortunately he was. Meanwhile at the other end TN played a great game in front of the Christ Church net at times plucking a ball from the air that was destined for the strings. Those that did make it past him were very well finished goals. Nevertheless in what is becoming a tradition – it happened last week – JF scored with the final kick of the game demonstrating the whole team played with energy and belief right to the end.

All seater stadium news – the local council are concerned about the effects of the floodlights on the local wildlife so it maybe next season. This should not affect our promotion prospects! JW

A note from Mr Cotterill….

The Art Department is in need of any buttons and beads that people may wish to get rid of!

There will be a Painting Day on Friday, March 25th Forms 5 – 8 and the Easter Art Course this year will be from Tuesday 29th March until Friday 1st April. We will be sending forms out next week.
